Are you fed up with the crowds and the terrible waves at your local beach? Do you dream about surfing some uncrowded reef break like the ones you see on DVD? Do you long to go on a surfing safari, just you and a few good buddies? If you said yes to any of those questions, it is now the time for you to get away and take a surf travel vacation.

What is it that is holding you back? Is it money? If you want to, you can live for peanuts close to some of the best breaks in the world. For the price of an airline ticket, you can stay in a cheap guesthouse in Bali and have access to places like Uluwatu and any of the other great Bali reef breaks.

If you want to, for a few dollars you can take a boat over to Nusa Lembongan and surf some great waves there and stay in a bungalow practically in the water. Lembongan is a little surf paradise for natural footers, since it is one of the few places in Indonesia that has good rights.

With Bali as your basecamp, you have access to all of the waves in Indonesia. One of the best waves on the planet is on Java, just a stone throw from Bali: GLand

GLand, as you well know, is one of the best waves in the world. Go there between June and September and you could be getting barreled all the way from Money Trees to Speedies. That is over 200 yards of pure adrenaline pumping speed. There are now very good facilities at GLand, so you will not be sleeping in the trees with the tigers like they did back in the sixties.

Why not think big and go on the ultimate surfing safari. Get your buddies to pitch in and charter a boat. You can sail from Fiji all the way to the Maldives, stopping everywhere in between. You will surf some of the best reef breaks in the world and go places few have ever gone before. It will not be a cheap trip, but it is not out of the question, either. Just think about getting perfect waves to yourself in places you have only dreamed about before!

Are you still hesitating? What is it that is stopping you? Do you think you cannot handle the waves? Is it the cost of the trip? Look, you are not going to be young and in peak physical condition forever. Do it now while you can or you might regret it for the rest of your life. You are in for the most incredible adventure you will ever have. Just do it. Take a surf travel vacation now. You will never forget it!

When trying to go surfing, surfboard hire is the place to go. If you are wishing to learn how to be the surfing boy or girl, then there are different ways to gain knowledge. We learnt how to surf through surf videos.

If you love the look of white lights wrapped around palm trees and poinsettia plants in full bloom then you will love the look of San Diego at Christmastime.

If you love the look of white lights wrapped around palm trees and poinsettia plants in full bloom then you will love the look of San Diego at Christmastime. San Diego hotel rooms can be found at great rates and it is not too late to book today to experience Christmas in this beautiful city.

No matter what part of town you decide to stay in San Diego is full of life. That is what makes staying here so fun. And not matter where you stay you can easily travel to another part of San Diego by taking the trolley or renting a car and find your own experiences. There is even the trolley that can take you to Mexico for the day if you choose to.

If a beach experience is what you are craving there are several options. You could stay on Coronado and soak up the beaches there and maybe even surf with Santa. Or you could go to Shelter Island or Point Loma for an ocean experience. You could even go a little north to beautiful La Jolla with their beautiful views and rocky beaches.

Crave the holiday city life of shopping and fine dining then choose a hotel in the heart of San Diego. You will find many shopping opportunities and a huge outdoor mall lit in beautiful lights with Christmas music playing all around you. After a day of shopping you can walk to many of the local restaurants or take in a show. Or perhaps listen to some good jazz in the gas lamp district.

Other attractions are close by anywhere you stay in San Diego. There is the world famous zoo and many museums in Balboa Park. They have Holidays on the Prado which has countries around the world showing how they celebrate Christmas. It’s a fun experience to go down to the gas lamp district. There is always something musically going on for any musical taste.

If you want to have a great experience with your children consider driving up about 45 minutes to Carlsbad to take in Legoland and the Aquarium. They are connected and for one ticket you can spend a day exploring the world of Lego. It is fun with rides and experiences for all ages. If you don’t want to drive you can always take the train up the coast easily.

A great experience as well is Old Town. It is decorated for the holidays with street of fair type markets. You can see the historic Old Town and see the roots of how San Diego started. Watch taffy being made and get a margarita as big as your head. There is something for everyone at Old Town.

Booking San Diego hotel rooms this holiday season can be a fun escape with your family or friends and a fun place to spend the holiday season. You will have a lot of fun stuff to do and never run out of great places to dine. Surf or shop the choice is yours.

Josh Krundle is an expert author, When you’re planning a trip and you need to find San Diego hotel rooms, it’s helpful to know exactly how to find San Diego hotel rates that give the deepest discounts compared to all of the other sites. Get the best rates on the greatest hotel rooms available.

Are you in a funk, Bucko? Are your better days behind you? World passed you by? A Costa Rica vacation may be the best thing between you and wintertime blues. Consider:

[I:http://cheaptravelblog.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/VictorCKrumm4.jpg] Is the world getting you down, Bucko? Are you feeling the weight of the world on your shoulders? World passing you by? A Costa Rica vacation may be just what the doctor ordered. Consider:

1. Airfares have not been this low in years. The world economic downturn has come to Costa Rica. Tourism in Costa Rica is down by at least 15% this year, presenting great bargains to a frugal, informed traveler . Want luxury at an affordable price? The Hilton Papagayo Resort is offering rooms as low as $160.00 a night. Seniors can get an extra discount. More budget-conscious folks who travel Costa Rica can rent very nice Costa Rica hostels (some with private rooms) for about $12.00. Travel Tip: For the best bargains, visit between May and mid-November and avoid the holiday periods. Bonus Tip: always ask the hotel, resort, or hostel if there is a discount for cash (”effectivo” in Spanish).

2. With nearly 800 miles of coastline visit some of the exquisite Costa Rica beaches. Black, brown, and white sand beaches, sea shell beaches, rugged rock-strewn beaches. Hike off of Drake Bay, named after Sir Francis Drake, who visited the southern Costa Rica Pacific coast a decade before destroying the mighty Spanish Armada and saving England in 1588. You can even walk the same Caribbean beach where Columbus named Costa Rica 600 years ago.

3. Take romantic walks or just be lazy. Be sure to bring your surfboard because some of the best surfing in the world is found here. Most beaches are completely free but if you prefer to visit a very popular national beach park called Manuel Antonio, there will be a small entry fee. Wherever you are, though, you can frolic on the same Costa Rica beaches enjoyed by stars like Mel Gibson and Britney Spears.

4. Consider becoming an ecotourist. Check out Ostional National Preserve on the popular Pacific Gold Coast, where thousands of olive ridley sea turtles come ashore in massive nestings, called “arribadas”, perhaps the largest spectacle of its kind in the world. Arribadas occur every month but the biggest (sometimes involving hundreds of thousands of turtles) typically are when the moon is in its last quarter during the months of July to November. Or, head over to the Caribbean coast and tour Tortuguero National Park, the world’s largest green sea turtle preserve.

5. Costa Rica has been called the “Switzerland of Latin America.” This mountainous little country has nearly as many kinds of birds as in the entire continental U.S., nearly 1000 in all. You can hike every inch of the continent of Africa without seeing as many species of butterflies as there are in Costa Rica. Twenty Percent of all animal and plant species on earth are found in this country.

6. You can hike the tallest mountain in Central America, Mt. Chirripo. Voted one of Costa Rica’s Seven Natural Wonders, hikers start at its tropical forest base and, if they have the stamina, end at its cold alpine summit. Bring a backpack with warm clothes as you climb this beauty to a little night time shelter overlooking remnant glacial lakes carved from ancient glaciers. You will need a permit and reservation but the cost is very modest and when you reach the top you may be reminded of the mighty Andes. Plan on a day up, overnight, and a day back.

Jeffrey’s Bay, South Africa is an amazing place to see. It is Located on the Eastern Cape of South Africa. Sit back and enjoy the white sandy beaches as they get hit by the array of blue and green waves. Watch the dolphins leap and frolic in the wave’s right in front of your eyes. The attractions to see in Jeffreys Bay go on and on.

Jeffrey’s Bay has several choices as far as rental home or hotel preferences. Every hotel or private home seems to have a view like no other. Every tourist seems to talk endlessly about the abundance of breakfast that you get regardless of where you stay. Tourists talk about the portion size and how the portions are large enough for more than one person.

The most popular place to visit is the shell museum. The shell museum is known for its variety of shells and the collection that it has to offer. The shell museum is only open one day a week so make sure you check with the locals so you don’t miss out.

Many of the restaurants in Jeffrey’s Bay are a little pricey but are well worth it. The best way to find out about the best restaurants is to check with the locals. The locals will always be able to tell you where the best, “little hidden” restaurants are located at. Make sure you brush up on the language so you can read the menu; some things are written in their language. Kitchen Windows and the Sunflower are just a few that are highly recommended.

When going to any foreign country or outside of the United States you need to know the kind of money that they use. The African currency is the rand which is 100 cents per rand. You will have no problem if your money gets low because there are banks and ATM machines everywhere. Another thing to keep in mind when going to Jeffreys Bay or any other country is make yourself knowledgeable with the phone systems, driving rules, money systems and the languages that are spoken there. .

Majority of tourists and visitors go to Jeffrey’s Bay because of its vast beauty and gorgeous city. Almost everyone that has visited Jeffreys Bay regret not being able to stay longer. They say they run out of time seeing everything that they want to do.

Andrew Keet has lived and travelled in South Africa for nearly five decades and Jeffreys Bay is one of his favourite destinations.

[I:http://cheaptravelblog.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/VictorCKrumm9.jpg]

The tiny Latin America country, Costa Rica, is a very popular destination for hundreds of thousands of visitors from Europe, Canada, the United States and other countries. They come for many reasons. Some love the great beaches. Others prefer the tropical mountains, great weather, outdoor activities, or adult nightlife (what happens here, stays here).

You do not have to spend a arm and leg to experience Costa Rica so long as you bring a little planning. There are some travel bargains which are not commonly known to tourists.

Adventurers and explorers have marveled about this country for centuries. Christopher Columbus was the first to discover it, doing so in 1503. He was so enthralled he gave it its name, Costa Rica–the rich coast. About seven decades later, an English captain and seafarer named Sir Francis Drake rounded the southernmost point of South America and traveled north until he landed at what is now named Drake Bay off the southern Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. You may have heard of this fellow: he is famous for destroying the Spanish Armada and saving England in 1588.

But, unlike these men, you do not need a boatload of people to help you get around and it will not cost you the Queen’s treasure, either.

Like boating? How about a nice cruise along the warm waters off the central Pacific coast of Costa Rica? About an hour and half long, traveling between Puntarenas and the southern tip of the beautiful Nicoya Peninsula (where you will find fabulous beaches and surfing), take a ferry. There are several to choose from and they set sail about every hour or so. The cost? About $1.50. Less than the cost of a bottle of water, a soda or beer. Is this value or what?

Trains are fun, too. From downtown San Jose, take a four hour ride on the Tico Train to Puntarenas. You’ll see spectacular mountains and cross deep chasms on tall bridges. The train will be packed and filled with happy Costa Rican families. Be sure to bring your bathing suit because you are going to end on the beach! How much? About $16 each way. Like the ferry, most tourists don’t know about the train. For reservations (you need them) call American Travel at telephone number 22-33-33-00.

With two coasts to choose from, nearly 800 miles of tropical beaches can be discovered, hiked, surfed, swum (but be careful about rip tides at some places), and even fished for almost nothing. All the beaches in this country are public, open to everybody. Getting there is very cheap. Public and private buses are ubiquitous in Costa Rica. For example, lots of surfers take in the lovely Pacific town of Jaco. From San Jose, a large, comfortable, air-conditioned bus ride takes about two hours and will cost you less than a Happy Meal! Less than $5!

Finally, I have one more budgetary secret to share. There are very nice Costa Rica hostels throughout the country. Sure, most folks associate hostels with college kids crammed into a dorm but the truth is that many of the hostels in Costa Rica offer private rooms for just a little more per person than a dorm. You don’t need to spend $50-70+ per person to have a nice room. I recommend them because I’ve stayed in private, quiet rooms at hostels for way less than the cost of hotels.

Cocos Island is a national park of Costa Rica nearly halfway to the Galapagos Islands. Jacques Cousteau described it as the most beautiful island in the world, Costa Ricans declared it one of its Seven Wonders, and it is a finalist as one of the Seven Wonders of the world.

Though it is a small island located nearly 350 miles off the Costa Rica Pacific coast, it is world famous for its spectacular scuba diving. Indeed, its waters are filled with fish, porpoises, whales, and sea turtles, and there are sometimes so many sharks, it is often called Shark Island. Experienced scuba divers travel here from across the planet because it is renowned as the greatest place in the world to dive with large sea animals.

The island has been famous for pirates, real and imagined, for centuries. Many people think that Cocos was the inspiration for Robert Lewis Stevenson’s famous pirate adventure Treasure Island but sometimes real pirates landed there to escape the English fleet and to bury their treasure. Two great treasures, the Devonshire Treasure and the Lima Treasure, worth hundreds of millions of dollars today, may still be buried there.

Cocos Island is also the setting for Michael Crichton’s epic novel—and Steven Spielberg’s blockbuster movies—Jurassic Park.

The island is uninhabited except for a few Costa Rica park rangers who are stationed there to protect its waters from poaching. For centuries its isolation protected the island’s rainforest and undersea creatures from exploitation.

Only a few lucky people get to visit Cocos and if you want to go ashore, you will need previous permission from the rangers. Overnight camping is forbidden. But, no matter. As you walk the shores, looking out over the great Pacific, your imagination can soar. You’ll be walking the very shores that famous pirates hid buried treasure and you will not be alone. It is almost as if some of the stones themselves can talk for you are going to find rocks and boulders bearing the inscriptions of past sailors who left their moment of history behind, writing their names, the names of their ships and ports of call, even the dates. Sailors, long gone but not forgotten by the rocks. Like Kilroy, they were here.

[I:http://cheaptravelblog.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/VictorCKrumm1.jpg]

Situated off the southern Pacific coast of Costa Rica along the shores of the Osa Peninsula, almost on the Panama border, you will find the Parque Nacional Corcovado (Corcovado National Park). This is a unique protected habitat and is the largest surviving forest on the Pacific Coast from Mexico to South America. There are eight different habitats to be found in the 42,000 hectares (100,000 acres) which form a tiny national park that remains for the most part unspoiled. Though teeny, it is one-of-a-kind. Literally.

Most tourists do not realize that Costa Rica got its name from Christopher Columbus who explored the Americas in 1502. He sailed the Caribbean from Mexico south, landed south of what is now Limon, Costa Rica, and named his discovery ‘Costa Rica’ or the ‘rich coast’. We can only imagine what he saw along the way. Spectacular tropical forests covering Central America from the Atlantic to the Pacific. Waters teeming with fish, porpoises, and whales. So many sea turtles that seafarers, lost in the fog, found shore simply by listening to the sounds of tens of thousands of animals paddling towards nesting beaches. Alas, the passage of five centuries has not been kind to either the forests or animals and today most of the primary forests from Mexico to South America have been cut down or burned. Fortunately, Costa Rica had the good sense to preserve Corcovado and its primary rainforest.

Columbus never saw Corcovado. The first Western explorer to see it was Sir Frances Drake (remember him? The sea captain who destroyed the Spanish Armada in 1588 and saved England from Spain) who landed just north of the Osa Peninsula in a beautiful place now named after him: Drake Bay. The bay serves as the gateway to Corcovado.

Though Corcovado is very tiny, only about 20 miles long and 8 miles wide—-less than half the size of New York City, it is, as National Georgraphic says: the most biologically intense place on the globe. Consider this: There are 400 different species of birds crammed into this teeny place (the 48 States of the continental United States have about 900). The largest remaining Central America population of the spectacular, and increasingly rare, scarlet macaws, is still common here. The Corcovado mammal species represent 10% of the kinds of mammals to be found in all of the Americas and they exist on just 0.000101777 percent of the landmass. There are 116 species of reptile and amphibians and 139 different mammals found here. To put this parks size in context, you could fit it into Yellowstone more than 22 times! Yet, it contains six different kinds of wild cats, including the magnificent jaguar and puma.

If you are a fan of amphibians (I am talking about frogs here) Corcovado is a great place to spot the glass frog, poison-arrow frogs, and the rare red-eyed tree frog. It is also one of few places in Costa Rica you will find squirrel monkeys. You’ll find fishing bats hunting for fish over the rivers at night. This park is believed to be one of the last stands of the Harpy Eagle which is probably on its way to extinction in Costa Rica.

The seemingly deserted beaches of the park provide a nesting ground for four species of sea turtle and because of the large tapir population jaguars and crocodiles also inhabit this area. They prefer to hunt around the edges of the Corcovado Lagoon and are often sighted. The footprints of this large carnivorous cat are often found in the mud trails which surround the lagoon.

Corcovado is one of the best tropical rainforests on earth. You will see why it is called the Amazon of Costa Rica because it is as impressive as any rain forest in Brazil, Indonesia, or Malaysia. Torrential rains fall in the area from April to December so the best time to visit is in the dry months from January to April.
